Boryung announced that it will host the Humans In Space (HIS) Roadshow and the final round of the HIS challenge at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Milan, Italy, from October 14 to 18 (local time).
The IAC is the world's largest annual space conference, jointly organized by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), and the International Institute of Space Law (IISL).
Over 6,000 experts from governments, private companies, and academia worldwide, including representatives from space agencies such as NASA and ESA, and leading aerospace corporations like SpaceX, Airbus, and Axiom Space, will attend this year’s IAC. Amidst this global assembly, Boryung will be showcasing the HIS Roadshow and culminating the HIS Challenge.
Since 2022, Boryung has been hosting the annual HIS Challenge to bring together various space healthcare experts and ideas to foster a global space healthcare ecosystem. This year, the final round of the HIS Challenge will be held as a special session at the IAC.
The selected teams will receive funding through HIS's Orbital Launch Funding program to conduct research on the International Space Station.
In addition, Boryung will organize several sessions on space healthcare, including a panel discussion with the European Space Agency (ESA), the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and the French Institute for Space Medicine and Physiology (MEDES) to explore avenues for international collaboration in space healthcare. Additionally, Boryung will host a dialogue with four astronauts, including Koichi Wakata, the Japanese astronaut with the most spaceflights, to share their insights on space healthcare research.
Jay Kim, CEO and Chairman of Boryung, and Jack Lim, Head of the NPI (New Portfolio Investment) Group, will serve as panelists in several sessions. They will present their perspectives on the commercial potential of Low Earth orbit in the context of space healthcare and will elaborate on Boryung's strategic investments in space infrastructure.
'Our collaboration with the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) in the third year of the HIS program underscores the increasing recognition among experts of the critical role of the space healthcare ecosystem,' remarked Jack Lim, Head of the NPI Group at Boryung. 'Boryung is dedicated to maintaining its position as a leading organization in fostering the global space healthcare ecosystem through HIS.'
